Airfare Mapper ("we", "us", "our") operates airfaremapper.com. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
By using Airfare Mapper, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Data We Collect
What you provide
- Email address — only if you voluntarily enter it. Never required to use the service.
What we collect automatically
- Search queries — the airport codes and dates you search. Stored anonymously to improve the product.
- IP address — logged with each search for abuse prevention. Not linked to personal identity.
- Usage data — pages visited, time on site, browser type. Collected via Google Analytics 4.
What we do NOT collect
- Names, payment information, or passport data
- Precise location (beyond country-level from IP)
- Any data from children under 13
3. How We Use Your Data
- Search queries: Improve airport coverage, identify popular routes
- IP address: Detect and prevent abuse, enforce rate limits
- Usage analytics: Understand how people use the product, improve UX
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for targeted advertising beyond what Google AdSense does automatically.
4. Data Retention
- Search queries: Retained for 90 days, then deleted
- IP addresses: Retained for 30 days, then deleted
- Analytics data: Governed by Google Analytics retention settings (default 14 months)
5. Third-Party Services
Airfare Mapper uses third-party services for advertising, analytics, bot prevention, and site reliability. These services may collect data subject to their own privacy policies. When you click "Search on Google Flights" you leave Airfare Mapper and are subject to Google's privacy policy.
6. Cookies
- Session cookie — maintain your session (session duration)
- Google Analytics — usage tracking (up to 2 years)
- Google AdSense — ad personalization (up to 2 years)
- Cloudflare Turnstile — bot detection (session)
You can opt out of personalized ads at adssettings.google.com.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, delete, or object to processing of your data. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@airfaremapper.com. We will respond within 30 days.
California residents (CCPA): We do not sell personal information.
EU/UK residents (GDPR): Our lawful basis for processing is legitimate interest (search logs, abuse prevention). You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
9. Data Security
We use HTTPS encryption for all data in transit (via Cloudflare), access-controlled database hosting on Railway, and store no payment data. No method of transmission is 100% secure.
10. Children's Privacy
Airfare Mapper is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact hello@airfaremapper.com and we will delete it.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
